First off, I salute you for wanting to stand up for your Country and wish you the best of luck. If you want it bad enough, nothing will stop you from meeting these goals. Even if it takes you a little longer then you expected or planned.

While I'm working on a similar lofty goal and somewhere on week 4 or 5 of c25k, that's about all we have in common. I have kids 10 years older then you. So my struggles no way relate to yours.

While my c25k program is a bit side tracked at the moment, here's a few things I've learned lately.

1) Rest is important, your body must recover from the work out.

2) Slow your pace until you know you can do the time and distance. Then slowly build your time.

3) Nutrition is very important for quicker recovery

4) Did I say rest was important?

At 51, I was never a runner my whole life. I hated it or even thinking about it. But my goals had short deadlines and I pushed myself hard but did not feel I was getting anywhere. So I started taking more time off and now I'm seeing big improvements. Sometimes more is not always better.

Hang in there, keep working the plan. Work it smart and be realistic in your abilities. Don't give up!
