At CES 2014, Panasonic has introduced the Lumix DMC-ZS40 travel zoom, also known as DMC-TZ60 in some markets. Equipped with Wi-Fi and NFC, it provides a 30x zoom range (24-720mm equiv), an 18.1 megapixel sensor, and a built-in electronic viewfinder. The MC-TZ60 features high speed, high sensitivity image recording achieving 1920 x 1080 60p astonishingly smooth full-HD video recording in AVCHD Progressive format and high speed burst shooting at 10 fps with high picture quality. AVCHD footage is advanced in quality but not designed for post production. For instance, to view and edit DMC-ZS40 AVCHD progressive in Vegas, you need to look for a better workflow.

The MTS file is the camcorder original file with AVCHD codec. It should be used as your backup archive but may prove difficult to directly edit. Actually, Adobe Premiere (Pro or Elements) or Vegas (Pro or Movie Studio Platinum) can natively edit AVCHD MTS files but require the equivalent of i5/i7 quad CPU hardware. And for 1080 60i/60P footage, your will often find Panasonic AVCHD clips stutter and drop frames when you preview in Adobe or Vegas even with a high end CPU. These make AVCHD conversion so demanding for native editing.
